Ball Pits at Babies R Us were like $54.99. Umm, no thank you!
So, I decided to make Max a ball pit myself, convinced I could do it cheaper. And I did. And he loves it!!
This is one of the simplest DIY projects I’ve done. Let me put it like this: You buy a baby swimming pool (I found one at the end of the season at T.J. Max for $3) blow it up, and add a bag of play balls. The balls are actually the expensive part of the toy, however. I bought one bag of 100 balls from Babies R Us and it was $20. (I’ve since seem them cheaper at Target.) Even so, DIY is still less expensive than the manufactured ball pits.
I have to say, 100 balls is actually not nearly enough. He could use another 200 or so more. Max loves this toy and it keeps him pretty occupied for a good 7 minutes at a time!!
It is funny to watch him play in it. If one ball falls out of the pit, he gets out of the pool to go get that one particular ball. I’ve tried to explain that there are 99 other balls within his reach, but he is a determined child with a one track mind.
